Summer Macation

Well, it's official...all the grandkids are now out of school.

Zachary finished fourth grade with great grades and

Zachary's Award Day 2011

lots of awards.  Way to go Zachary, congratulations on another great year.

Kourtney and Caden attended their last day at the sitters and will be looking forward to starting pre-school in the fall.  But, in the meantime, Kourtney has declared that "Summer Macation" is about to start.  With that in mind, I am thinking the pressure is on Moppa and Poppa to start making motor home and campout plans.

I do have a plan or two in mind. I just have to pull it all together and confirm a few dates.  With all that has gone on this spring, we didn't plan a big summer trip this year.  However, it doesn't take a lot to entertain any of them...they just want the wheels on the bus to turn...so...

In the next couple of weeks, we are planning a trip for Caden and Kourtney to Elephant Rock at Lake Murray State Park in Oklahoma.  They have a great campground with full hookups, a sandy beach and designated swim area.  A place to rent paddle boats, a playground, and lots of places to walk and ride bikes.

In July, we are planning to take the big kids to Retama for a week or so.  A laid back week at the pool, bike riding, and some time at South Padre.  Well, laid back unless Mark and the boys work in a project or two while we are there.

We are flying to Vegas for a week in late July with Scott, Jennifer, and the kids.  Gosh, I think we just planned the summer away...which brings us to the first of August, the kids will be thinking about starting a new school year, and Mark and I will begin to make our way towards Gillette, Wyoming for Escapades 2011 and then to points beyond.

Now, as we get our summer underway, we hope whatever "Summer Macation" plans you have, you are safe and have lots of fun.  We certainly will be blogging about our adventures and look forward to hearing about yours.

  1. It doesn't really matter where that Macation is, as long as you have the grands along to enjoy it with you!!! Remember they will remember going along with you long after all us old folks are gone home to our maker.
