More and More Arrivals

Today we are expecting a couple of arrivals.

First...the arrival of the tech from Safelite's mobile service.  On our trip from Cooperstown, we picked up a couple of windshield chips so, we arranged for them to be filled before doing any additional damage.  The tech arrived right on time and did a great job, filed the insurance, and was on his way.

By this time all the kids were up, dressed, having breakfast and awaiting the next arrival of the day...that would be

New York Trip 2010 067

the arrival of  Dad

New York Trip 2010 053

and J.

We are always excited when family joins us wherever we are.  And, today, Scott, Jennifer, and Cindy (Jennifer's Mom) flew in from Dallas to join in on our fun.  They will be staying until sometime next week.

Since they had to get up at 4:00 this morning for a 6:00 flight, we decided to have a slow day.  So after lunch, we drove just a few miles down the road to see the home of

New York Trip 2010 006

Orange County Choppers.  This has been a favorite TV show of the the boys.  We saw some really cool choppers...all of which are custom made.

We saw one for

New York Trip 2010 007

Spiderman, and one for

New York Trip 2010 015

Santa Clause.

There were choppers for

New York Trip 2010 024

football teams and

New York Trip 2010 023

baseball teams.

There was one made for

New York Trip 2010 018

the man who loves to grill, but to us, the coolest one in the place was the one made

New York Trip 2010 009

in honor of firemen!

Scott and Lauren had fun

New York Trip 2010 032

checking out all the cool sun glasses.

We then headed back to the RV Park for an afternoon of fun.  They all

New York Trip 2010 043

ran and

New York Trip 2010 049

jumped on the Jumping Pillow.

The boys

New York Trip 2010 065

dog piled Scott, while

Jennifer and Lauren

New York Trip 2010 074

made

New York Trip 2010 080

a chipmunk hotel.

Then, it was off for a little fun on the

New York Trip 2010 114

big bikes.

Andrew showed his Dad and J how to

New York Trip 2010 118

go down the big hill.   Then, it was

New York Trip 2010 122

their turn.

I think the big kids

New York Trip 2010 117

called it quits before the little one did.  But, they all had a great time!

We then decided on a dinner plan were we continued our visiting.  Scott, J, and Cindy then headed into town to the hotel and Poppa and I along with the kids headed back to the RV.

After a good night's sleep for all, we will tackle a new adventure tomorrow.

We still have one more arrival...due to be here on Friday evening...and that would be Greg and Kate, Zachary's parents.  They too, will be staying until sometime next week.

We are looking forward to a great holiday weekend, but until then, stayed tuned to our adventures for the next couple of days.

And...Then There Were Three!

Yesterday, we spent a great day at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.   We returned to the RV park to finishing packing and hooking up for a

New York Trip 2010 169

late afternoon departure from this great little park.

Once again, we left

New York Trip 2010 172

the quite back roads and

New York Trip 2010 174

the folks

New York Trip 2010 165  that grace these beautiful surroundings.

We were met with

New York Trip 2010 180

dark clouds as we made our way

New York Trip 2010 181 on to the New York State Thruway heading towards

New York Trip 2010 188 New York City.

We traveled on to our evening destination...one of the most

New York Trip 2010 003

expensive campgrounds there is...Wal Mart!  This one is located just south of Newburgh, New York, and my one night's stay cost me $87.50. LOL...so much for free camping!

Here we anxiously awaited the arrival of Zachary, grandchild #3, who is joining us for the rest of the trip.

Circumstances this summer didn't allow him to leave Texas when we did as he had been invited to play in an invitational baseball tournament.  After his tournament, he and Greg flew to meet Kate in London, England who had been in Madrid, Spain on business.

They arrived late last night at JFK, drove up to Newburgh, spent the night, and this morning

New York Trip 2010 005

Zachary arrived.

Now, we have three travelers...

It was still too early for us to check into the RV Park so we just sit back and had a good visit.  The kids were filling Zachary in about all we have done and Zachary was telling them all about his trip to England.  Before we knew it, it was time to head to the RV Park.

We only had about a 10 mile trip down a

New York Trip 2010 008

rural road, to yet a

New York Trip 2010 012

smaller road that led to the

New York Trip 2010 024

Newburgh/New York City KOA.  This will be our home for the next 8 days.

We were soon checked in and

New York Trip 2010 015

parked in our site.

Once we were set up, we all headed back in towards town for lunch at Wendy's before Kate and Greg had to leave.  They would be taking a late afternoon flight to Dallas.

We had our hugs and they headed south and we headed north.  Once we were back at the park, I decided to tackle the laundry while Mark cleaned windows and put on the screens.

As for my three travelers...they took off for the front of the park to ride

New York Trip 2010 023

these crazy bikes and

New York Trip 2010 033

the fire truck.

They have spent all afternoon running

New York Trip 2010 026

around the park.  Up and down

New York Trip 2010 027

every road they could find.

I think they will all sleep very well tonight!

Before, I close this entry...again, I want to thank you all for the many notes, cards, and calls I received today wishing me a Happy Birthday.  It is has been great to hear from family and friends all across the country.

I am so blessed!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

This morning's adventure took us to Cooperstown, home of the

New York Trip 2010 102

Baseball Hall of Fame.

We were directed first to a

New York Trip 2010 012

short movie about the history of baseball and what it takes to make it to the hall of fame.

Afterwards, we started our self-guided tour.  We saw

New York Trip 2010 020

old gloves,

New York Trip 2010 021

famous signatures that went with

New York Trip 2010 019

famous jersey's.

We found one of our favorite hall of famer's

New York Trip 2010 051

from our home state...that would be Nolan Ryan, pitcher for the Texas Rangers.

We saw lots of

New York Trip 2010 058

championship rings and

New York Trip 2010 052

a wall full of signed baseballs representing perfect pitched games.

Then there was this

New York Trip 2010 038

guy...wonder what position he plays?  And, then...

New York Trip 2010 064

Andrew and Lauren watched the famous

New York Trip 2010 063

Abbott and Costello in "Who's On First?"

Gosh, we even watched as though we had never seen it.

Next stop on the tour...

New York Trip 2010 072

the Hall of Fame...where we saw

New York Trip 2010 073

wall after

New York Trip 2010 077

wall of players who over the years since 1936 have earned the honor to be a part of baseball history.

We even saw the

New York Trip 2010 091

blank wall were on July 25, 2010,

New York Trip 2010 009

these three men will be added to the already long list of great baseball players.

Congratulations to all of them!

After our tour, we stopped at

New York Trip 2010 119

All American Sidewalk Cafe for lunch before we

New York Trip 2010 113

walked the streets of Cooperstown shopping in all the stores.   And, for some reason all

New York Trip 2010 108

the shops and

New York Trip 2010 144

restaurants have a baseball theme.  I can't imagine why.

What a great time in Cooperstown...certainly there was enough

New York Trip 2010 086

baseball and

New York Trip 2010 127

apple pie to make it a real

New York Trip 2010 135

All American Day!
