Once we were back to The Last Resort, it didn’t take us long to settle
right in to our site. We are ready for the adventures to get underway.
Friday was a pretty laid back day and a restful day for me. I am managing well with one arm in a sling, and everyone is very helpful.
Yesterday, started with Bob and Molly inviting us to breakfast. We met up with Norah and Howe at Alice Fay’s. We had a yummy breakfast that would last us for most of the day.
Once we were back to the RV Park, Mark and I along with Donnie and Karen decided to make a Lowe’s and Wal Mart run. I have had my eye on a rug at Lowe’s for quite awhile now, so today, I decided
to bring it home.
Later in the afternoon, we all went down to Fulton Beach to the
31st Annual Oysterfest. We first attempted to park at the old Wal Mart and ride the bus, but, we quickly figured out that wasn’t the best option. So, we just headed on downtown and found a parking lot not too far away.
We walked down to the fairgrounds where we found
lots of people,
lots of oysters, and everyone was
standing and sitting around listening to the different music entertainers. There was also lots
carnival rides and games to keep the kids entertained.
After
a little discussion, we all decided that we had seen enough and that was no oyster worth waiting for in all the long lines. Molly suggested we go to Moon Dogs which was just a short walk down the street.
No oysters, but Molly and I did share
a cheese steak sandwich and sweet potato fries.
We heard that down across the bridge at Lamar there were some Whooping Crain's hanging out. So, after dinner, we headed that way. We did see two, but they were too far for pictures. Maybe another day. But, we did see
this fellow out doing a little fishing.
It was then back to the RV Park where we decided to have a campfire at Rod and Deb’s. We were joined by Charlie and Peggy who had just arrived earlier in the afternoon. Great to meet yet another RV chat room friend!
We enjoyed the campfire, the marshmallows, the cookies, and the laughs until it got too cool to stay out.
Today, started much like yesterday….Bob, knocking on my front door….do you want to go to breakfast? Today, we tried a little breakfast buffet at the Panda Bay. Then, we needed to make another stop at Walmart for a couple of things we forgot yesterday.
The rest of the day we have spent here at the RV Park. Tonight, we planned a dinner here at the clubhouse. Everyone
begin to gather for a happy hour time and a little visiting before the
guys started grilling.
Meantime,
Molly and Karen were checking out the bulletin board inside.
Soon everyone’s meat was done and dinner was underway. We had a great time visiting.
We all pitched in and cleaned up and now all are settled in for the evening.
We have had a great weekend and look forward to a lot more fun and adventures over the next few weeks.
As I close the journal for today…we pray for Lynette as she flew back to Kansas today. Her brother who is fighting a long illness and has been taken to the hospital and she was called to come home.
