What A Start to 2009

Happy New Year's to everyone!

We celebrated New Year's day yesterday with family and friends. Jim and Ellie came over to join our family for lunch. We had ham, black-eyed peas, collard greens, scalloped potatoes, apple salad, pumpkin pie, brownie cookies, and sopapilla pie. It was all very yummy. Then there was an afternoon filled with football and visiting.

Today, I met Ellie for our Weight Watchers meeting. Ellie had another successful week at loosing. Way to go Ellie! And, today was the day that I completed my six weeks of maintenance staying at least two pounds under my goal weight. And, therefore, receiving my lifetime award and lifetime membership into Weight Watchers. This is something I have worked on since 2002, but unfortunately stopped on a couple of different occasions for different reasons, and always just shy of my goal. But then I gained several unwanted pounds. Then, in September Ellie and I started back on program and I was determined this time to get to where I am today. Thanks Ellie for all your support! Now, I just have to be disciplined enough to keep up what I have been doing for the last several months and weigh in once a month at a meeting. Accountability is what I need. Thanks to all of you who have sent encouraging notes my way during this time.

After our meeting, Ellie was off to Burleson to pick up Jim and return to our place. We had planned an afteroon trip to the Red River. First on the agenda was lunch at Red Lobster. We enjoyd grilled shimp, salad, and broccoli, a very point friendly lunch. Afterwards, we headed off to the Winstar Casino. Jim, Ellie, and myself came back with our pockets a little heavier. Thank goodness, because Mark left with his a little lighter. Well, that just means we will have to make another trip so he can get it back.

We retuned to the house and had a delayed Christmas with Jim and Ellie. I had ordered them a picture album and it just arrived today. I was beginning to think it might have to be a Valentine's gift. Then, we decided that we would go to Pulido's, our favorite Mexican food resturant for one last dinner before they leave on Monday heading south. Thanks for dinner Jim!

Now, I know you have to be thinking by this time, she started out talking about loosing weight and all she has talked about is how much they ate today. This even makes me laugh. But, let me assure you that the point count for lunch was low enough to offset the point count at dinner.

Well, Jim and Ellie have headed back to Burleson and we are watching football and just hanging out for the remainer of the evening. We have truly had a great start to this new year. And once again, we wish to you and your families a great and blessed 2009.
