Happy Anniversary To Jim and Ellie

Today was Jim and Ellie’s 24th wedding anniversary and they invited us to spend the day with them.

After doing a little more last minute shopping for items that we didn’t find at Wal Mart yesterday, we decided to take a drive over to Hill City

to this little winery. It was funny, as we were walking across the parking lot, Jim’s aunt called to tell him to be sure and come here. We all laughed, as Jim told her we were there. The winery no longer does tours, but we looked around at all the wines and they had a counter were you could chose five wines to taste. We then decided that this would be a good place

to have lunch. We chose the lunch special which was

a half sandwich and a cup of soup. Jim, Ellie, and I chose the lentil soup, while Mark chose the tomato/bell pepper soup. They were both good.

After lunch, we headed back to Custer to do a little more shopping. Ellie and I found a cute clothing store and each found a couple of new shirts. We then went to the City Market and purchased some ground buffalo meat to take with us. Buffalo is great and is more lean than chicken. It makes a yummy burger.

We then said good-bye to downtown Custer until next time and headed back to the RV Park. Mike and Pat McFall came over this afternoon for a short visit and after they left, we decided it was time to head out for Jim and Ellie’s anniversary dinner. She had chosen a restaurant by Custer State Park.

Happy Anniversary and thanks for including us in your special day.

After dinner, we decided to take one last short trip through the park. We saw

this big guy up close and personal. And then we saw this

crazy sign and took one last look at

one of the many beautiful lakes in the area.

I am sad to leave here…it is so pretty and peaceful. But, I know that this is just the beginning of our adventure to the west and there will be lots of places I will wish I could stay longer...so I will say good bye to South Dakota until the next time. Tomorrow is a travel day…we will be making our way west just about 100 miles to Devil’s Tower, Wyoming. See you there.

  1. I took classes from a woman in Hill City last year teaching me how to use my longarm quilting machine--she and I had lunch in that winery cafe--it was delicious. Looking forward to seeing you guys on Friday, enjoy Devil's Tower.
