From A Bad Dream to Reality

I had a bad dream last night. It was a dream about having dinner with our good friends Jim and Ellie. And, they told us they had to leave today. I just couldn't believe it after all these months we have been traveling together. Then after dinner we went back to the RV park and sat around and visited just like always.

Then, as the dream continued, they said, it is time for us to say goodnight and they started telling everyone see you down the road and they went to their motor home. I just laughed and said, I will see you tomorrow. We continued to visit with everyone and roasted some marshmallows. Soon it was time for us to go home for the evening.

My dream continued and after a while I went to bed and went to sleep, but then something woke me and I heard a diesel starting and I thought OH, NO, Jim and Ellie are really leaving. But, I thought it was all a dream...

Then I really woke up this morning and I ran outside to make sure my dream was really a dream, but

It wasn't a dream, it was reality.

More Friends and Fun

I can't believe that we have been here almost a week. What a great time we are having.

Friday was the day we planned breakfast and the menu was "eggs in a bag". I have to say I have never cooked my eggs in a bag. This was a new experience for me.

This is how it is done...

First, you have to decide on the location of breakfast, then

you have to set up the kitchen. Next,

as Rod is demonstrating, you take a ziplock freezer bag, fill it with 1 or 2 eggs. Then, you add the ingredients of choice to your bag. We chose from peppers, onions, mushrooms, ham, bacon, cheese, etc. Once you have your bag filled, you squish it all together and

you take it to the cook, who puts it in a big pot of boiling water and in about 12-15 minutes

he will return it to you and you open the bag and you have an omelet! What a yummy breakfast.

After breakfast, Ellie, Karen, and I decided to head in to town and find a nail salon to get manicures

and pedicures...result...pretty toes.

Upon returning to the RV park, Ellie headed for the swimming pool and hot tub. Karen went to make a cake for dinner, and I decided to get the laundry done. Before I know it, I realized that was about time for Joe and Sherri to be arriving. So several of us decided to hang out,

surprise them when they came around the corner. Welcome Joe and Sherri, what took you so long to get here?

Later in the evening we gathered at Kevin and Donna's for baked potatoes and all the fixins. Then we settled in to an evening of visiting with lots of laughs.

Despite the cloudy windy weather this morning, we were all out for our morning walk. Then it was time for breakfast, showers, and getting ready for the day. Ellie, Sherri, Becky, and I made a trip into Walmart. Then this afternoon was spend hanging out waiting for others to arrive...finally

Rollie and Gina arrived. This is their new home. Wow, what a truck!

It was then time to get ready for our pot luck dinner. Gina, Molly, and I went to set up the tables and quickly realized we needed more help and recruited some of the guys to help. It wasn't long until it was time for everyone to show up...our group has grown to 36 of us.

This is Mark's sample desert plate...he said he had to try it all so he wouldn't hurt any one's feelings. And, he said it was all good, however, tomorrow he will have to walk an extra mile for eating all of that.

And the sun sets on another great day with great friends. We are sad however, that some already have to leave us. Safe travels to Keith and Donna as they head for home tomorrow and Jim and Ellie will be preparing to leave on Monday

More Arrivals, and The Party Goes On

Today, Jim wanted to make a trial run to San Antonio to locate the Cummins dealership where he has to go on Monday morning. He and Ellie invited us to go along for the ride. It took us a little longer to get there than we thought as we slowed down by construction on I-10. However, with a little patience, we made it, located Cummins, and then headed out for a little shopping. Ellie and I made a stop at Ulta and the guys checked out Best Buy. Afterwards we wanted to go to the Bass Pro Shop. I was looking for some walking sandals, but had no luck, but did find a new hand held Garmin for geocaching. I can hardly wait to try it out.

By the time we finished our shopping trip, it was time to get back to Buckhorn and get ready for dinner. When we returned to the park, we found that

Dinner tonight was at Nonna and Kpoppa's home...and we all took

I think Mark and Gordon are just waiting for someone to tell them it is time to eat.

We did finally eat all that good food and then just sat around, visited, and made plans for the next meal or two. What another great day.

Tomorrow we will anxiously await yet more arrivals.

A Picture Can Say It All

I can't believe it is already Wednesday. While several chose to go in to Fredericksburg for shopping and lunch, Mark and I, along with Donnie, Karen, Jim and Ellie decided to do a little shopping around Kerrville. Our day also included a grocery run, a haircut, and just hanging in the park.

Glenn and Sylvia arrived today and we had invited them to have dinner with us at our motor home. It was a combined effort. Mark grilled chicken and Jim made the pineapple salsa. Ellie made a salad and Karen brought potatoes and squash.

Afterwards we all gathered at Kevin and Arlene's to enjoy the fire in their new fire pit.

Cathy was making apple pies over the fire. While she was busy serving, Donna decided she

should check on the one left on the fire...

Did someone say we had a couple of fireman in this group?

Arlene and Molly decided to stick with the marshmallows.

Busy Days At Buckhorn

Wow, what a great time we are having here. As of today there are ten rigs here and lots going on. After every one's arrival on Sunday and lots of hugs and hellos, we settled in. Monday morning took everyone in a different direction. Some needed to buy out Walmart, while others were just hanging out, and yet others like Nonna spent the day cooking. Last night we gathered in the community room for a small pot luck of beans, rice, cornbread, taco salad, roasted peppers, cake, banana pudding, and watermelon. We then settled in to visiting and planning the next few days.

This morning several of us headed out for the Enchanted Rock State Park to climb the rock. Others were off to play golf, some shopped and others just stayed around the park.

What a fun day with friends

Once we were all back down off the rock, it was time to find lunch. We drove back into Fredericksburg and had lunch at Subway before heading back to Kerrville. Once we were back at the park, Jim, Ellie, Mark, and I grabbed our swim suits and headed to the hot tub. Just what we needed after our rock climbing adventure. Too soon it was time to get back to the motor homes to get ready for dinner.

Tonight we all had dinner at the Big Red Barn where the park served pork tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes, carrots, salad, and chocolate cake. The entertainment for the evening was provided by Sarah Getto. Sarah sang and played the piano. She is a very talented young lady who was born blind and taught herself how to play the piano. Tomorrow there is shopping in Fredericksburg, lunch at the German restaurant, and who knows what else. Also, Glenn and Sylvia will be arriving to join the group. Safe travels to you guys.

Good Bye February...Hello March

Well, as we said good bye to February, we also said good bye to The Last Resort, Rockport, Corpus Christi, and the beach. One of the great opportunities as RV'ers and staying in one place for an extended time is meeting and making new friends. And, we certainly have done that during this time. Also, as RV'ers, we also try to never say good-bye to friends, but rather, see you later. We also had such a good time during our stay, that we decided to make a jello plan for next year. So, we paid a minimal deposit to hold our space, and plan to come back for January - March of next year. And, also, thanks Troy and gang for making "The Last Resort" a great RV park...keep up the good work!

One last look, until next time

Now, this morning, as we said hello to March, we also said hello to the wind. I don't know about where you are, but here in south Texas, the March wind certainly did roar in like a lion! Saying hello to March also means saying hello to a new adventure. And, as I post this journal, we are heading north on 37 towards Kerrville and our next destination, Buckhorn RV Resort. We will be there for two weeks and during that time there will be about 20 other rigs coming in. It will be great to get to reunite with friends we haven't seen in awhile, and exciting to finally get to officially meet several that we feel like we already know. Almost, everyone here is from our RV-Dreams chat room, while others are friends that different ones have invited to join us for this "gathering". What a great time we all are going to have. So, you will have to stay posted as the plans and adventures unfold over the next couple of weeks.

I will try to post more this evening after our arrival at the park.

But before I leave for now, I want to take the opportunity to be a proud "Moppa". Yesterday, I received an email from our 3rd grandchild, Zachary, who is in the second grade. He is on the school chess team and played in a district wide chess tournament yesterday. At the end of regulation play he was 5-0 and tied for first place. He got beat on points in that round, but took 2nd place in the district for his age group!

And, in my book, that is a real winner! Way to go Zachary.

THE REST OF THE STORY:

The rest of the trip was uneventful...

We made our way through San Antonio just like we knew what we we doing. And found our way out I-10 West....

Welcome to the Texas Hill Country. We did stop at exit 543 on I-10 West and fill up with diesel at $1.95/gal. Yea...the first time we have paid under $2.00 in a long time

After a great visit, several decided to go out for dinner. We had been out to lunch, so Ellie, Karen, and I stayed at the park and got our 2 miles in for the day. We then sat around for a little more visiting until there was a chill in the air. By this time...

it was time to call it the evening of the first day!
