Mark's Birthday...

After my Weight Watcher Meeting, our walks, and line dancing, we packed up and headed to Goshen.

First on the list was Mark's eye appointment.  His prescription  had changed, so...that resulted in a new pair of glasses which led to a new pair of sunglasses as well.

By the time we were finished at the eye doctor, we were both ready for lunch.  Mark's choice for his birthday was the

South Side Diner.  This is one of the diners that has been

featured on Food TV's show...Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Mark chose a Philly Cheese  Steak Sandwich, which was one of their featured items and number one seller.  I chose fried clams.

No, birthday cake here... so we chose to share a slice of lemon meringue pie.  He said, it was almost as good as Mi-Mi's!

This was truly

an old time diner.  For such a small place, the menu had a lot to offer.  Maximum capacity was maybe 50.

We might have to try it again while in the area.

Since we were in Goshen, we decided to drive out to the fairgrounds and see if we could catch up with Bob and Molly.  The Newmar Rally is going on right now at the fairgrounds and looking for a Tiffin Motor home in the middle of a fairground full of Newmar's was like looking for a needle in a haystack.  We did finally find the Bus, but no Bob and Molly.  We just left them a note that said we stopped by to say hello and would catch up with them later.

By this time, we needed to head back to Elkhart for a stop at the Wal-Mart store.  Mark had a couple of prescriptions  that needed to be re-filled, plus we needed to replenish a few items around the house.

However, in addition to the milk, bread, and chips...Mark found himself another

birthday present.  This ice chest is a Coleman DC cooler...so no ice required.  It also has a AC adapter.  It fits nicely in the front of the pull out tray.  Now, some of those cold drinks that take up space inside can stay outside.  It will also come in handy for those long day trips.

Now, back at the campground, we settled in for the evening.

Mark says he had a great day, and thanks to you all for the many birthday wishes and phone calls.

  3. Please keep an eye on that cooler. We had one and all of a sudden it ran so hard that it froze all the soda but, at the same time it over heated the unit and started melting the plastic around the fan. It had that ozone smell as in an electric motor burning out. It was about three years old at that point, however, we had not used it a lot. I would much prefer a small 120 volt refrigerator over one of those units.

  4. I've been out of the loop a few days so I am trying to catch up with my blog reading. It appears that I might have neglected wishing Mark a Happy Birthday!!!! Happy Birthday Mark!!! I'm so sorry. Too much going on with the family and I'm getting overwhelmed. Keep little Hunter in your prayers. He's having some bad days.

    Take care and have fun!!
