After battling yesterday's
traffic and
rain, it was nice to wake this morning to what promised to be a
beautiful day.
Spending the night at the travel plaza was good and by 7:30 this morning, we were ready to roll. We were both anxious to get on road and get that last 220 miles behind us.
We enjoyed the drive as it took us past
the Indiana farmlands. The fields are so green with
corn as far as you can see.
We paid
Ohio and Indiana a total of $42.85 to drive on their roads and arrived in Elkhart by 10:30 this morning.
The campground is just down the street and around the corner from exit 92 off of I-80.
We were driving in
the front gate before we knew it. We checked in and were assigned to
site #302.
The sites are grassy and we leveled without any problems. There is plenty of room between the sites.
Molly and Bob drove over from Goshen just in time for lunch. They introduced us to several couples here in the park and we visited for a while with Nick and Miss Terry.
We gathered at Frank and Marlene's for happy hour. Afterwards, we all went to Lunkers for dinner. It is a small restaurant/sporting goods store just across the Michigan state line.
After dinner, we all gathered back at Frank and Marlene's house for a few more laughs.
Yes, I think, we are in for a good time over the next several weeks. We can't wait for the rest of the gang to get here this weekend.
We'll be in Goshen from 8/23 to 9/7 then to Elkhart for 3 days then back to Goshen for the rally. I was thinking you were going to Goshen first. It's not THAT far away. We'll see you soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad you all had a safe trip to Elkhart! Sounds like the fun is already starting. Enjoy!!
