No Real Plan...Just Go With The Flow...

Wow...when I woke this morning it was cold.  We turned the heater on for a little while until the chill was gone.  By mid morning, the sun was out and we were on our way to a nice day.

We had no real plan for the day and we decided we liked that idea.  Just go with the flow...

I decided that since this was our last day in Connecticut, I had better tackle the laundry.  So, laundry duty it was...which then prompted to having to do the ironing...which prompted to doing a little closet cleaning.  While I was busy with my chores, Mark was out organizing the bays and putting things away for travel.

By the time we both finished with our chores, we decided it was time for a late lunch or maybe it was early dinner.  At any rate, we had not eaten since breakfast and we were hungry.

We discussed Mystic Pizza, but decided we didn't want to drive the 20 miles to Mystic.  Well, that let out Abbott's too.  I had a brochure from the office for a place right here in East Lyme, just a couple of miles from the RV Park...Flanders Fish Market and Restaurant.  Sounded good to us.

Come to find out, this little place has some fame.  They have been featured on the Food Network for the best fish and chips.  Gourmet Magazine and the Travel Channel named their Clam Chowder, "The Best of New England".

Can't be bad, so we were on our way.  Mark had the fish and chips and I had a romaine salad with gorgonzola cheese topped with grilled haddock. We both had a cup of their famous chowder.  We agreed they were worthy of the honors they had earned.

Afterwards we took a drive...just a few miles from East Lyme...down to Niantic to the

Connecticut 141

Hole in the Wall Beach.

This beach is just what it says and you get to it through

Connecticut 140

the hole in the wall, which by the way runs under the railroad tracks.

Once on the other side, there is a great little

Connecticut 135

beach with a designated swimming area in the Niantic Bay.

We walked around the beach and up to the

Connecticut 130

lookout at McCook Point Park overlooking Long Island Sound.

I am always fascinated by the the

Connecticut 137

sailboats.  They have been everywhere off of the New England coastline.  I think that is something I would like to do.  Of, course, I just want to ride with someone that knows how to sail the boat. LOL

I can't believe that tomorrow we are actually leaving the

Connecticut 119

the ocean and New England and heading north and then west.

What a great time we have had over the last month in New England.  We are already looking forward to the next time.  We have done and seen so much and there is so much more to do and see.  This area is so full of American History and I never get tired of searching it out.

Once we were back to the campground, Mark, got the car cover on and hooked up and I begin to put things away inside.

We are going to try to get an early start in the morning.  We don't normally travel on Sunday, but, we want to get on the other side of New York with the least amount of resistance.

From there, we have no real travel plan.  Ultimately, we will end up in Elkhart, Indiana.  Guess we will make it up as we go along with the flow.

See you somewhere between here and there!

  8. What a nice area, and hope to get there ourselves someday in the RV. Been there in a car with a tent, but having a motorhome this time around would make it more comfortable!

    Thanks for the wonderful photos.
