We woke in Polson, Montana this morning to
rain. This was not exactly what I consider a good travel day, but we needed to get another 80 miles down the road…so
we headed rain and all. Thank goodness, we were soon out of it and the miles clicked off fast and soon we were arriving at
our home for the next seven days. We checked in and
parked. We decided then that we would head off and check out
a place for lunch. Afterwards, we drove into
the park. From here and for the rest of the day, we were just in awe of this beautiful park and majesty of the mountains. So…I hope you enjoy the afternoon with us as we journey up to Logan’s Pass on the Going To The Sun Road…
This is Lake McDonald…the day was very overcast, but maybe you will get the idea of what we were seeing..
The park was full
of waterfalls. Several were big like
these. While others we saw were far
up the mountainsides. Some were even coming from the very top of the mountains. But, no matter where they came from the water was very cold. As usual, I had to put my feet in to test it out
in the waters that ran under this bridge while Mark
was taking pictures.
We continued then to make our way slowly around the road and I say slowly because we had to stop every few minutes for more pictures.
Soon we began to see how majestic the mountains stood and were amazed around every
corner we turned. We soon found that we had climbed quite high. And soon we
rounded a corner and got a good look at
From Heaven’s Peak, we traveled on around the road until we were stopped
by what else, but construction. However, while we were waiting our turn we we able to catch
this little guy playing along the side of the road and we were able to get a really good shot of
mountains across the way. It was then our turn to move through the construction zone and we made our way on up to
Logan Pass. We chose to turn around here and head back towards Coram. We will try another day to make it all the way across the Going To The Sun Road, but for today we needed to get back. We had to leave time to get back through the
construction and wind our way back down
the road that was far below! On the way down we got to see the mountains from another
view.
What a day this has been…and I think this says it best…
Be sure to stay tuned as we have seven wonderful days planned in the area.
